The European Union

The EU has 27 member states, and Belgium is a founding country. The Commission proposes laws, the Parliament and the Council decide on them together.

Why

In many member states you pay with the same euro as at home, you travel there freely and your phone just keeps working. Who arranged that?

Many rules that affect your daily life are partly made in Europe: on the safety of products, on your data online, on what must be on a package.

In the EU, Belgium works together with 26 other countries. If you know who does what, you understand better where a rule comes from.
