Human rights and children's rights

Human rights apply to everyone, everywhere. Children also have their own rights in the Convention on the Rights of the Child: protection, provision and participation.

First grade of secondaryAges 12 to 16Draft: Not yet reviewed by a citizenship teacher.

Why

May someone read your diary without asking? May your school exclude you because you are different? And who decides that?

Human rights protect what every person needs to live in freedom and dignity. They apply to you, to your classmates and to someone on the other side of the world.

If you know your rights, you can stand up for them. And you also see more clearly that others have the same rights as you.
